Growing up Ellie was constantly reminded by her mother that she will never be wanted or loved. Ellie was ready to give up on men after Ryan broke her heart, then she met Gunner. Gunner was her brothers best friend and they had an instant connection. Gunner constantly had this urge to protect her, show her how she should be treated and make her feel that love is possible.
