Book Review: A Beautiful Lie by TE Sivec

A Beautiful Lie by T.E. Sivec

388 pages

To purchase this book click HERE
My review:

This story is about Garrett McCarthy, Annabelle Parker, and Milo Roberts who were as close as friends could get.

Something goes terribly wrong and Milo winds up dead while on mission as a Navy Seal. One of the many twists is that Milo's death was not an accident, leading Garrett and Anna to head to the Dominican Republic with a Seal Team to find out what really happened to Milo.

Just when I thought I had it all figured out Tara Sivec blew me away with another twist. Things were no longer predictable and had just the right amount of sexy and danger around every corner. I was on the edge of my seat with every page turn.

This is a bit of a long read but so extremely worth it!

Description from Goodreads.com:

He saw her first, but his friend made the move.

She settled for the safer choice, but her heart knew the truth.

They love, they crave, they lie.

Garrett McCarthy, Annabelle Parker, and Milo Roberts were as close as friends could get. They shared in each other's joy during graduations, promotions, and engagements. They consoled one another through heartache and loss.

When one of the friend's life is tragically cut short, it's up to the two left behind to pick up the pieces and find out the truth - no matter the cost. As they slowly start to uncover the nature of his deception, and the very powerful people behind it, they begin to question everyone and everything, even themselves.

Everyone has secrets - some do it for love while others do it for power. Those secrets can change perceptions, alter reality and sometimes destroy lives.

What do you do when you find out your whole life has been a lie?

My favorite quotes from the book:

“If you were mine, I would never be able to walk away from you. If you were mine, I'd worship every inch of your body with my hands, lips, and tongue. If you were mine, I wouldn’t be able to stand in the same room as you without running my hands over your skin and tasting your lips. If you were mine…”

“You wouldn't know what the fuck to do in a dangerous situation if your life depended on it. And it would, little one.”

“He wanted to drown in her and shout at the top of his lungs that she was his. It was always her, only her.”

“He looks at you like you’re the key to his soul and like he wants to devour you.”

“I’m scared because I love you so much sometimes it’s hard to breathe.”

Book Review: Shattered Promises by Jessica Sorensen

 Shattered Promises by Jessica Sorensen

My Rating: 4 Stars

My review:
I am normally not a fan of Paranormal books but this one changed that! Everything that comes from this author is amazing! Shattered Promises is suspenseful, sexy, and had you on the edge of your seat wondering what the next page is going to hold. I had no idea what was wrong with Gemma. It takes a great author to create a world that keeps you guessing, and takes capture of your mind.

In twenty one years, Gemma, a beautiful girl with violet eyes, was never able to feel anything. She never had any kind of emotions. She doesn't have friends, her parents died when she a was baby and she lived all her life with her cold hearted grandparents. Not that she would mind, after all she have no feelings.

Until one day.....

Goodreads.com description:
For twenty-one year-old Gemma, life has never been normal. She knows nothing about her past and has been haunted by the same monsters in her nightmares for the last few months. Unemotional and numb to life, she feels disconnected from everyone. Until the very first day she cries. After that, nothing in her life is the same.

Her emotions slowly surface and she starts experiencing love, happiness, and anger, feelings she never knew existed. But they leave her confused and she doesn’t know whether to embrace them or run away from them.

Her life only gets more complicated when she meets Alex. Sexy, arrogant, and secretive, Alex can get under Gemma’s skin like no one can. Yet she’s drawn to him by an invisible connection she has no control over. She’s also seen him before. In her nightmares.

Every part of Gemma’s mind is screaming at her to stay away from Alex, but every other part of her is begging to get close to him. But the closer she gets, the more she realizes Alex knows more about her than he originally let on.

As secrets about her past unravel, Gemma’s life becomes threatened. She needs to figure out what’s going on, before she winds up dead. But the only person she can turn to for answers is the one person she isn’t sure she can trust.

My Favorite Quotes:

“For as long as I can remember, I've never been able to feel any emotion. Sadness, happiness, love; they are all just words to me. They have no more meaning or importance than the shoes on my feet.”

“You want to know something real about me, Gemma? I’m empty. Dead. Completely numb inside, except for when I’m around you.”

“If you couldn't feel the pain anymore, then you wouldn't be able to feel how great it feels when it leaves you. Without pain, everything else wouldn't matter to you. It would all be the same.”

Fractured Souls (Shattered Promises #2) by Jessica Sorensen

My review coming soon...

Goodreads.com description:
Gemma thought she had said her good-byes and had felt every possible emotion she could before her soul was detached again. Deep down inside, she hoped she’d never wake up from it because, in her eyes, life without emotion and memories isn’t worth living.

But she does wake up and discovers she can still feel and remember everything she experienced over the last few months. Alex is also telling her that everything’s okay, that he didn’t betray her, and that what she thought happened really didn’t.

Gemma isn’t sure if she can trust Alex, so she tries to keep her distance from him, even though the electric connection and her desire make it nearly impossible. The only person she can trust is Laylen, but even that becomes complicated when the lines of their friendship begin to blur.

While Gemma struggles with her emotions and relationships, she searches for her mother, entering a dangerous world of secrets, seduction, and evil. The further she digs into her mother’s secrets and past, the more she wonders what waits for her at the end of her search and if maybe some things are better left in the dark.

Travel Tuesdays: Bucket List part 2

Last week I named two places in Greece that I would love to visit. This week I have two more, next week we will explore Italy!

Meteora

The Greek word meteora means “suspended in the air,” and this phrase aptly describes the spectacular cliffs that rise more than 1,200 feet (366 meters) into the air overlooking the villages of Kalambaka and Kastraki in the north central mainland of Greece. What makes these cliffs even more inspiring are the historic monasteries perched along the summits. Dating back to the 14th and 16th centuries, these monasteries were built by monks seeking spiritual isolation and freedom from religious persecution.

While there were originally 24 monasteries, only six of them remain intact today. Accessible by a staircase carved from the cliffs, the monasteries contain some of the world’s best examples of religious manuscripts and art works, which can be viewed on-site. In addition to the monasteries, Meteora is also home to several rare bird and flower species. This makes Meteora a great place to enjoy outdoor recreation. At the base of the cliffs are the main towns of Kalambaka and Kastraki, peaceful and beautiful villages that offer accommodation, shops, restaurants and tavernas as well as a number of Byzantine churches, Greek temples and other interesting historic sites. Meteora can be reached by bus and taxi from Athens in Central Greece.

Holy Monastery of Rousanou, Kalambaka, Greece Monks used to be raised by ropes to get into the monastery but stairs have now been added, sure is good for the tourists.

Delphi

Second to the Acropolis in Athens, Delphi is Greece’s most popular archaeological site. Located about two and half hours from Athens along the slopes of the awe-inspiring Mount Parnassus, Delphi was once revered by the ancient Greeks as the center of the earth. Dedicated to the god, Apollo, Delphi was an important oracle and holy place for worshiping Apollo. In ancient times, people would come to this sacred spot to inquire of the priestess for advice on a wide range of topics from farming to relationships and politics. Over time, as the popularity of the Oracle of Delphi increased, so did the offerings. Temples and monuments were built, and the wealth of the area spread to establish the surrounding city that remains today. Significant ruins and structures at Delphi include the Temple of Apollo, the Athenian Treasury, Altar of the Chians, the theater, stadium and hippodrome that once hosted events of the ancient Pythian Games. The town of Delphi offers plenty of hotel accommodation, restaurants, shops and taverns as well as historic churches, interesting museums and art galleries. As Delphi is a popular day trip from Athens, tourists will find a number of bus tours from the capital city. The town of Delphi is within walking distance of the archaeological site, so walking is the primary transportation within the area although taxis are available.

The "navel" of the world, Delphi, is situated below the slopes of mount Parnassus to the south of mainland Greece. Delphi was a place with springs, exhalations and crevices which gave it a sacred character. Very early it became the seat of a prehistoric oracle and then it gave place to the sanctuary and oracle of Apollo, god of music, light and divination. Those who wanted to consult the oracle asked the Pythia, priestess of Apollo, who intoxicated by the exhalations gave a quite often equivocal answer. Soon the oracle acquired worldwide fame and governors from all the then known world consulted the Pythia and so Delphi turned into a famous oracle adorned by the splendid offerings of the worshipers and at the same time a centre of political decision. At Delphi there is an archaeological site with the ruins of treasuries, porticoes and the temple of Apollo, all scattered over the uneven mountain slope. Nearby there is an archaeological museum with the movable findings of the excavations, with the “Charioteer" being one of the most famous ones.
If you are in search of culture, archaeology, amazing sights and views then these two places are a must!

Are either of there places on you Bucket List?
Where are some of the place that you would love to visit?

Little bit of history...
Georgie's Candies has been an institution on the Ocean City Boardwalk since 1954 when George Koukoulis founded the candy store. A tradition for many tourists has been the World Famous Macaroons. Naked fresh everyday the macaroons sweet smell resonates throughout the store. George's creamy fudge melts in your mouth as you stroll down the boardwalk. In 2003 George's was renovated and expanded. Our homemade ice cream, made from recipes dating back to 1915, has been moved to the from of the store, where long lines await the cool treat on hot summer nights. Also new in 2003 was the addition of Geroge's Breakfast Grille. All food is made to order with fresh meats and vegetables, fluffy pancakes and mouth watering omelets.

Book Review: Relentless by Cassia Leo

Relentless by Cassia Leo

232 pages
Published February 22nd 2013
Available at amazon.com

My Rating: 5 Stars

My Review:
The story starts with a young girl named Claire who dropped out of college after her first year due to reasons she does not want to talk about. She was raised by her drug addict mother who OD's and ends up in the system jumping from house to house.

She now lives in a house with her best friend and now there is a new tenant Adam where there is instant chemistry and playful flirting. After getting to know each other Adam tries to find out why she dropped out of school. Once Claire finally lets her guard down all hell breaks loose!!!

This book has a great love triangle, great sex and hysterical testosterone! Definitely a must read!

Goodreads.com description:

"Sometimes letting someone go is the ultimate act of love."

Claire Nixon is a college student with a past full of secrets and heartbreak.

At seven years old, the death of her mother by drug overdose destroys her faith in humanity and herself as she is tossed from one foster home to another. Feeling unwanted and disposable, she fights to keep herself safe in the system. Until, at the age of fifteen, she is saved by her first love, and soon-to-be rock star, Chris Knight and his mother, who quickly becomes the mother she always wanted.

When Claire encourages Chris to leave town to pursue his dreams of musical stardom, both Claire and Chris don't realize this will be the biggest mistake of their lives.

One year after Chris leaves on tour, Claire has carved out a new life for herself in a new city far away from the life she left behind with Chris. On a fateful morning, she meets sexy surfer Adam Parker.

To Claire, Adam is just another flirty customer at the cafe, until a chance encounter and seemingly innocent comment spurs a bet between them. The bet is simple: If Adam can get Claire to reveal the secret that made her drop out of college and leave her life behind, she has to re-enroll. If he doesn't succeed, she gets to keep her secret and he has to stop stalking her at the cafe.

Claire thinks she has this one in the bag. She's perfected the art of forgetting her past. But she isn't prepared for Adam's relentless pursuit or for him to share his own secrets. And she's definitely not prepared for the love of her life, Chris Knight, and her secret, to come banging down her door one year later.

My favorite quotes:

“The relentless pull of love is a thousand times harder to fight than the tides. If you’re lucky, you’ll make it out before you drown. If you’re even luckier, you’re pulled under just long enough to wash away the sorrow. If you’re really lucky, like me, you resurface just in time to find the one you love floating right beside you.”

“I guess that’s the way secrets are. They’re only heavy when you’re holding them. As soon as you let go, the significance of keeping those secrets hidden blows away and everything falls into place.”

“With every choice you risk the life you could have had. With every decision you lose it.”

SPANK! The 50 Shades The Parody

Last weekend I finally got my "Girls Night Out"! We went to The Golden Nugget in Atlantic City, NJ to see SPANK! The 50 Shades The Parody

I never laughed so hard in my life! The story is about E.B. James, an author, who is writing a very sexy steamy novel while her husband is away with the children. Things start to heat up while she starts describing her leading characters.

SPANK was absolutely the best show to see with the girls! Knee slapping funny, just the right amount of dirty and a whole lot of sexy!!! You are in for a good night, singing, sexual innuendos, dancing and more!! I cannot forget some of my favorite things.....the silk tie, discussing hardlines and softlines and of course the RED ROOM!

Hugh Hanson was played by Drew Moerlein.
www.drewmoerlein.com
Hugh Hanson, is a sexy, successful billionaire who likes to play in his Red Room!

Tasha Woode was played by Danielle Trzcinski.

Tasha Woods, is a meek, shy and naive who interviews Mr. Hanson for the school paper.

While at work Tasha sees Mr. Hanson who is in search of some supplies. Mr. Hanson is quite intrigued by her innocence and wants to show her a few things.

Sound a little familiar?
Well is you were to mix Fifty Shades of Gray with Magic Mike,
