DoOC: Hot Rod Weekend

One of my favorite things about Ocean City NJ is that there is always something to do!! This weekend from Friday 9/6 thru Sunday 9/8 Ocean City will be having their Annual Street Rod Weekend right on the boardwalk.

This is the time to really get a feel for Ocean City. Great weather, not to hot and not too cold!! Come for the vintage cars and stay for the atmosphere! Enjoy great food, fun entertainment and fantastic atmosphere!!

From Ocean City Patch

Street rod enthusiasts from throughout the East Coast will bring their colorful cars to Ocean City this weekend.
They will display their vehicles on the Boardwalk and at the Fifth Street Parking Lot during the 34th annual Shore Rod Run.
Cars will be parked at the Fifth Street lot (between the Boardwalk and the Ocean City Sports and Civic Center) from Friday afternoon (Sept. 9) to 1 p.m. Sunday (Sept. 11). There will be a Boardwalk display on Saturday (Sept. 10) from noon to 4 p.m.
A street rod is any car manufactured in 1972 or earlier that has been modified with more modern parts. Owners are creative about how they enhance their vehicles and often decorate them with colorful, painted designs.

Ocean City sponsors the event, which is administered by the Public Relations Office of the Department of Community Services.

There will be a dance and pizza party at 6 p.m. Friday for "Rodders" who arrive early. A craft show is set for the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. A Fashion Show is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Music Pier auditorium and will feature clothing from of Ocean City. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.

The fabulous Grease Band will entertain at the Music Pier 8 p.m. Saturday. The popular Grease Band plays hits of the 1950s through the '90s. Admission is $20, and the public is invited. Tickets are available at the Music Pier Box Office. Call 609-525-9300 or access ocnj.us.

The Great Food Escape

Let's talk food!
Ocean City NJ has so many great food venues on the Boardwalk.
Today I am going to tell you about Del's Oceanside Grill.

934 Boardwalk Ocean City New Jersey 08226 Phone: 609-399-3931

In 1954 my Mom and Dad opened up a small sandwich shop in Audubon, NJ.  The menu consisted of steak sandwiches to penny candy. Working together, they managed to build up a nice business.  In 1965, we moved to Ocean City and relocated Del’s to the boardwalk, in the location we occupy today.

While the surfers at the time were hanging 10 on long boards by Dewey Weber and Greg Noll, Dad was serving famous steak sandwiches, burgers and much more.

Today, as time may have it, surfers are still riding those long classic boards, along with other new shapes and so are we.  Our classic steaks & burgers are still the traditional favorites of families, however, the addition of our homemade crab cakes, fresh seafood platters and other new items to our menu are destined to become classic favorites for years to come.

So we invite you to continue the tradition with us at Del’s where classic food and service is not an option, it’s what our family has been doing since 1965.

They have a great selection to choose from including salads, appetizers, kids food, hot dogs, fries, Angus burgers, chicken and seafood platters.

Here are some of my recommended items: Crab Cake and Grilled Shrimp Combo, New England Lobster Cakes, Stuffed Soft Shell Crab Cakes, Maryland Crab Cake Sandwich, Chipotle BBQ Chicken Sandwich.

On The Healthy Side they offer:
Mandarin salad with grilled chicken or fresh grilled tuna steak, Apple walnut salad, Grilled shrimp sea salad, Key West salad and more.

In the mood for snacking? They also have great Snackiteasers: Wings, Mozzarella Sticks, Chicken Fingers, Fingers and Fries, Onion Rings, Breaded Zucchini and a Snackiteaser sampler.

They also have great seafood snackiteasers too:

Buffalo Shrimp, Crunchy Coconut Shrimp, Crab Balls, Chilled Steamed Shrimp, Steamed Clams, Clam Strips, Fried Oysters and Ale Battered Cod Fingers

If you are out for a walk and in search of some great food then this is the place to visit!

Have you tried Del's? Send me your review and I would be
happy to post it on my next review blog!
