I wake to nothing but the sound of beeping.
Am I dead?
My head feels like it’s been slammed against the ground a thousand times. I can’t move my body. What the hell happened to me? Think Kennedy, what’s the last thing you can remember? I slowly open my eyes, wincing at the bright lights, carefully taking in my surroundings. I look to the right and realize the source of the beeping is a machine attached to my chest. I look around and see four white walls and all I can smell is disinfectant. That’s when it dawns on me; I am in a hospital. Everything comes crashing back and the memories flood my mind. How far did I get? Who was it that found me? Were they here to take me back?
I hear voices coming from outside the room and panic instantly grips me. Inside my head I’m screaming. I won’t go back; I can’t go back. I’m careful not to let anything slip from my mouth; I don’t want them to hear me. I can hear my heart beating; it feels like it’s coming out of my chest. The machine starts to beep faster which causes me to panic even more. Desperately clutching at the wires attached to my chest, I rip them off one by one; flinching at the burning sensation it leaves on my skin. I look down to see the one last obstacle attaching me to the bed. A needle in the vein of my arm connected to a drip. I hear knocking at the door. I stop dead in my tracks, stop breathing completely. This is it, it’s over.
I look over as it slowly opens. It’s a woman and she is smiling. She is dressed immaculately and has the most amazing fresh face and curly brown shoulder length hair.
Why is she here? Who is she?
“Hello Kennedy, how are you feeling?”
The panic inside me intensifies as this unfamiliar face walks towards me. I suddenly begin to cry and start shouting, “No! Please let me go, they will find me here, you have to let me go!”
The unknown woman walks closer to me, small steps at a time, reaching her hand towards me she sweetly whispers, “Kennedy you are safe now. My name is Jocelyn and I’m here to help you; please let me help you.”
There is a genuine sound of care and the smooth tone to her voice has a mild calming effect on me. A thousand thoughts run through my mind. How did I get here and where exactly am I? All I remember is running, escaping and the tremendous fear of trying to break free. The woman named Jocelyn points to the chair at the side of the hospital bed. “Do you mind if I sit?” she asks. “Maybe we could talk a while? I can see you’re upset and I really want to help; try to understand. Do you know where you are Kennedy?”
“Why would you want to help me? You don’t even know me! I don’t deserve your help! Just let me out of here,” I lash out.
My breaths are short and shallow and I feel like the walls are closing in on me. I look around searching for an escape route; maybe an open window.
“Nobody is keeping you here. You are at Hoag Hospital Newport Beach and we are trying to help you. You were in such a terrible state when I found you Kennedy; unconscious, covered in blood and near death.”
She found me. Did I get far enough? Did I actually succeed?

About the Author

Rachael Tonks is a new to the scene author with a love of books, and a particular love of the romance genre. As a child Rachael could always be found with her head in a book, but it wasn’t until the beginning of 2015 when Rachael’s love of books really took over. Reading spurred on her desires to put pen to paper, and write down the story of the characters screaming for their story to be told.

Starting out her career with a new adult romance novel, she is currently working on her second novel which she plans to release mid-2016. Rachael lives in the steely suburb of Sheffield, in the north of England with her husband, 3 beautiful children and her 2 crazy dogs. She loves nothing more reading with a good cup of tea and is self-proclaimed chocoholic!

Blog Tour: Bury Me by Tara Sivec

BURY ME
by Tara Sivec

Goodreads: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20890425-bury-me?ac=1

Synopsis:

“All things truly wicked start from innocence.” – Ernest Hemingway

I hear screams in my head.

I see blood on my hands.
When I look in the mirror I see a stranger.

How is it that I can remember bits and pieces of my life, but nothing of any importance and nothing that makes any sense? Everything is twisted and nothing is right. I’m choking with every breath I take, suffocating on the unknown.

Two days ago, everything changed. Two days ago, the people I should trust the most became strangers in my convoluted head. The dreams I have can’t be real. The fleeting memories that whisper through my mind are scary and wrong…they have to be. If they aren’t, I have something much worse to fear than my fractured mind. I need to find out the truth, even if it destroys me.

I've been told my name is Ravenna Duskin. I’m eighteen years old and I live in a prison…

Excerpt:

Before I can command my feet to move toward the shape—the safer of the two evils—I hear another sound in the opposite direction and foolishly turn my head. Something heavy and solid crashes against my skull and I feel myself falling. Darkness descends over me one last time, covering my eyes, clogging my ears and stealing the breath from my lungs. Nothing will ever be the same again.
Nothing will ever be good again.

It will all be bad.

Bad

Bad

Bad.

Blog Tour: Get Off On The Pain by Victoria Ashley

5 Sexy Stars

Let me just start by saying that is one of my favorite reads of the year!!! I have read every book that Victoria has published and the girl keeps pumping out greatness!! Victoria Ashley has a knack for writing amazing books about these sexy broken men that you just crave to learn more about! She sucks you in with the way she portrays her characters that you become so caught up in the story and you feel every emotion right along side of them.

"I'm fucking tainted, Lyric. Running now would be your best option."

Memphis is not your typical dark, sexy brooding alpha male. Ok, so he is but there is just so much more to him. Memphis returns to his home town, Crooked Creek, after serving 6 years in County in search of his younger brother, Alex. Once her finds his brother his plan was to leave permanently, but of course things never go as planned.

"A part of me died behind those walls and the other part isn't sure how to go on living. I no longer know how to live in society among normal people."

Lyric is a very independent, strong willed and sexy as hell woman. I envy her strength. Three years ago Lyric moved to Crooked Creek and was instantly hired to work at Ravage Tattoos and lives with her friend Bailey. She loves photography but since her move she has lost her desire but one night she finds herself a very sexy muse. The house across from hers has been abandoned for years and one night a mysterious man takes occupancy and piques her interest.

"I close my eyes and Lyric flashes through my mind, making my whole world stand still at the thought of fucking shit up and never seeing her again. She's the only thing that silences the demons and makes me feel alive."

Memphis and Lyric separately have their own inner demons to battle but in the mean time find each other. He is constantly fighting temptation and Lyric wants in. Can they help each other fight their inner demons? Move beyond their past? Or do they allow their past to define them?

"Every time my grip on him shifts, his muscles tense even more, as if he isn't used to being touched. It only makes me want to help break those walls down and continue to touch him if that makes sense."

This book is not for the faint-hearted. Filled with sexual tension, flirty chemistry and scorching sex scenes!! I could not put this book down. If you are like me and are totally into bad boys with troubled pasts, strong willed women, twists and turns, filled with gut wrenching action and emotional roller coasters then this book is one for you.

"Once you start feeling - the pain never stops. Physical pain I can deal with, but emotionally; I cut myself off a long time ago. And being around Lyric makes me feel things I haven't felt in a long time; hope, need, desire and selfishness. My need to be selfish with her and have her all to myself is too great to ignore."

After you read this one, make sure you check out all of Victoria Ashley's other books, you will not be sorry.

I live for the pain; it’s what drives me to keep moving. But there comes a time when one has to push the demons aside in order to survive.

I thought I buried them deep. I thought I was ready to finally live. Until… my brother, Alex; he throws me into the fire—right into the place I could never control myself, the one place I never want to be again.

When I put my hands on people, they get hurt. Things happen that bring me back to that night. The one that will forever torment me.

I’m doing fine, keeping to myself in order to ensure no one gets hurt by me. Then along comes Lyric, and all I want to do is touch her, to put my hands in places that I know will only lead to her being crushed by me.

She’s the rush that I crave. The darkest of poison running through my veins, killing me bit by bit; like a drug I can’t get enough of even though I’m almost down to my last breath.
And being around her only hurts more, but what she doesn’t understand is that I welcome the pain; I get off on it, which in the end leaves me with the hardest decision of my life—one that might get us all killed…

Excerpt Two:

Ever since she came into my life, standing there behind me on the porch that day, I knew she would be hard to forget. From her messy, caramel hair and pouty lips, to the fire in her big, green eyes, I knew she was going to test me unlike anyone else ever has. I could tell she was a fighter just like me.

The only thing I need right now is to get out of my head and away from the woman beside me.

“Go inside, Lyric. I’ll wait here until you get in.”

She looks over at me from the passenger seat, one hand on the door handle. She’s not letting me go so easily. I can see it in her expression. “You’re not going home?”

I turn away and look straight ahead, refusing to look at her. If I do – I’ll cave in. I’ve already done that enough with her. It needs to stop. “No. I can’t be there right now. You really don’t need to worry about it. Now go. Goodnight.”

She takes her hand off the handle and pulls her seatbelt back on. “Good, because I don’t feel like going home either.” She nods her head toward the road. “Let’s go.”

“No,” I say firmly. “Just go inside.”

“Why not? What is the big deal? What is so wrong with taking me along and getting to know me? I’m not asking you for anything other than company. It’s a big fucking world and it sucks being in it alone.”

I let out a slow, deep breath and finally look over at her. She needs to see that I’m a fucking monster. I ruin lives and it will be no different with her. “Because I don’t want you around me when I’m drinking. I’m working hard here to keep my fucking hands off you. If I get fucked out of my mind… I’m going to want to fuck you and once I fuck you, the game changes. You don’t want that. Trust me.”

She nervously runs her hands through her hair and looks at my lips, swallowing.

“You don’t know shit about what I want. Maybe I’m not as innocent as you think. Now can we go? It doesn’t look like Bailey is home anyways. I don’t feel like sitting home alone.”

She always does this to me. I don’t get why she is so hard to get rid of. She’s pushing me and I can only hold off for so long before I fuck her senseless and pull her into my dark world; a place she doesn’t belong. “Just keep your distance from me. If your friends are there then you hang out with them. Okay?”

I look over at her when she doesn’t respond. “Okay, Lyric? I need you to understand and stay away? Say it.”

She looks up at me with fire in her eyes. She’s not happy with being told what to do.

Another thing I like about her. Well fuck me. “Fine. I get it. Let’s just go,” she says stiffly.

Blog Tour: Shame on You by Tara Sivec

Shame On You (Fool Me Once #1)

by Tara Sivec

Release Date: February 25, 2014

Blurb:

War veteran Kennedy O’Brien is in the business of sticking it to the man—or at least any man who tries to cross a woman. After she returned home from Afghanistan and caught her husband in bed with the nanny, Kennedy lost her faith in men and started Fool Me Once Investigations with her two best friends. After all, there’s no better bounty hunter than a woman scorned.

When Kennedy takes a case to slap cuffs on a bail jumper turned dog-napper, she figures it’ll be an easy paycheck. But trouble has a way of finding Kennedy. Enter the last man on the planet she’d willingly choose as a partner: her cheating ex-husband’s best friend, Griffin Crawford.

As gorgeous as he is unwelcome, Griffin has always had a thing for Kennedy, and after keeping quiet about her ex’s cheating, he’ll do anything to earn back her trust. Whether or not she wants to admit it, Kennedy will need help as the case of the Chihuahua thief spirals out of control. Griffin may be just her man—in more ways than one.

My Review:

Hell hath no fury like women scorn! Kennedy, Paige and Lorelei started Fool Me Once Investigations to stick it to sll the scummy men who have scorned them. If you are looking for an amazing Laugh Out Loud Romantic Comedy then this Is the book gofor you!

Kennedy has a love for the chase, the adrenaline rush and hey...if you get to throw cuffs on someone. After being stuck on a case with her exes best friend Griffin, the fun begins! Yes he is sexy as hell....who doesn't love a hot guy with a flirty, arrogant attitude oh and a motorcycle!!!

My Favorite Quotes:

"I might keep the jeans to replace the ones I ruined during my and Griffin's roll in the grass. Not to be confused with roll in the hay. Even though sometimes  I think I want to be confused with a roll in the hay. With Grifffin. Naked. In a bed. Or against a wall. Or on a kitchen table."

"Jesus. How about we just invite the whole damn neighborhood up here so they can see me half naked and post-orgasmic?"

"This guy says he'll pay fifteen hundred dollars to bust your back door, but I'm gonna tell him you're game. We can always fix it later. I didn't realize prostitutes made so much money for weird stuff. I thought they just gave happy endings. I'm in the wrong business. I should be a pimp."

"Fuck thebed. We Can do that later."

The only way to leave behind the horrors he’s seen throughout his career, is to turn it all off when he gets home. He’s too much of a playboy to settle down; even if he did find a woman he could stand to be around for more than one night, he would never taint her life with the demons of his past.

When his best friend and SEAL team member, Brady Marshall asks him to keep an eye on his baby sister, Gwen, Austin figures it will be a walk in the park. The only thing Austin likes more than flirting his way under a beautiful woman’s skin, is walking away with a smile on his face. Austin never expects that the single mom and her little girl will be the ones getting under his skin.

After taking her daughter and fleeing from her abusive husband in the middle of the night several months ago, she’s worked hard to get her life back on track and forget about the man who tried to break her. Worn Me Down Blog Tour Interview
Rene Migliore

1. The Playing with Fire series is one of my favorite series. Which book was your favorite to write?

Oh my gosh this is so hard, it’s like picking a favorite child! I would have to say that Because of You was my favorite because I wrote a few original songs for the main character, Layla.

2. What inspired you to write 3 fantastic stories about Navy SEALS?
Romantic suspense has always been my favorite genre to read. I love the heart-pumping excitement, the twists and of course the hot men! I knew when I started publishing that I would have to put my own spin on romantic suspense at some point and these stories just got into my brain and wouldn't leave!

3. When can we expect the final book Closer to the Edge, in the Playing with Fire Series?
I’m hoping in the spring this year.

4. What do you do besides writing? Do you have any hobbies?

Reading is definitely my number one hobby. A close second is trashy reality TV!

5. You have 4 successful book series, do you have any plans on another series???
Writing a series is exhausting! I have one or two ideas but I’m going to try to hold off on those and put out a few stand-alones before I tackle them.
