Family Getaway: Road Trips Made Easier

Going on vacation is always the best time of the year, but traveling with children can always make it a little hectic!

Here are a few ideas from www.parents.com to remember to bring with you when going on a road trip with kids:
  • Books
  • magazines
  • comics
  • Sketchbook
  • washable markers
  • colored pencils
Other fun ideas to keep them entertained:
  • Pre-stamped blank postcards (find them at the post office), which your kids can decorate, or postcards bought on the road
  • Have your children write to friends, relatives, even pets
  • Etch A Sketch
  • Magna Doodle
  • Portable DVD player and DVDs (DO NOT FORGET headphones!!!)
  • Scrapbook envelope—entrust your children with the responsibility of collecting postcards,  ticket stubs, and brochures for a scrapbook
  • Play the license plate game or road trip bingo

Snacks:
  • Individually packaged, crumb-free snacks such as bite-sized goldfish crackers
  • Hard-to-bruise fruits such as apples and berries; or try fruit roll-ups
  • Trail mix, which will leave kids feeling full longer (and keep fingers greaseless)
  • Reusable bottles filled with water

Other:
  • First-aid Kit
  • Tylenol, Sunscreen, and Dramamine
  • Garbage bags to collect trash
  • Extra diapers and wipes, if necessary
  • Change of clothes, in case of accidental spills
  • A blanket for spur-of-the-moment picnics at rest areas—and naps
  • Jump ropes and balls, so energetic little travelers can tire themselves out at rest stop

This 100 piece First Aid Kit from CVS is perfect to have in the car and it is only $ 9.99!!

If you are traveling with small children this snack and play tray is a fantastic idea! Great storage, plus everything is is arms length for them.

Star Kids Snack & Play Travel Tray is only $19.99 and is sold at Babies R Us or Toys R Us!!

Remember vacation is supposed to be relaxing!!! If you forget anything, don't drive your self crazy, you can always find a store close to grab the things you left behind.
